VollmerCup - Sharpening specialist sponsors top-class sport 2022-08-04
to overviewTop-class sport and sharpness expertise - this has been a perfect match in Biberach for many years. On 11 July 2022, the shot put elite met on the market square for the Vollmer Cup, organised by TG Biberach and supported by the grinnding specialist Vollmer as the main sponsor. More than 1,000 spectators witnessed the international competition with athletes from the adult and junior categories. Vollmer supports the sporting event, among other things, because it also reflects the corporate philosophy of the medium-sized sharpening specialist - locally rooted and globally positioned.
Time had come again: after the Corona break, the market square in Biberach, characterised by half-timbered buildings and St. Martin's Church, was transformed into Germany's most beautiful shot-put arena. For years, the main sponsor has been the Swabian sharpness specialist Vollmer, which has also given the VollmerCup its name since 2015. The TG Biberach organises the annual shot put event as the sporting organiser.
"It is a mammoth task for us as a club and can only be accomplished with many hard-working hands, for example to set up the grandstand as well as the elaborate wooden construction for the shot-put," says Hans-Peter Beer, chairman of the board of TG Biberach. "But without the financial support of our sponsors, above all the Vollmer company, this sporting spectacle in the heart of Biberach would not be possible."
Mohamed Tolo from Saudi Arabia won the men's sports spectacle with a distance of 20.33 metres. In the handicapped athletes' category, Niko Kappel from VfB Stuttgart achieved a distance of 14.16 metres; among other things, he won the gold medal at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro and the bronze medal in Tokyo in 2022. In the junior category, Nina Ndubuisi from Schorndorf with 15.35 metres and Tizian-Noah Lauria from Sindelfingen with 20.19 metres were convincing. Meter. Multiple world and European champion David Storl was unable to take part this year due to an injury, but will provide entertaining and exciting insights into the world of shot put as a co-commentator.
"We sponsor the VollmerCup to bring a world-class sporting event to Biberach and to give the people here an unforgettable evening," says Dr Stefan Brand, Managing Director of the Vollmer Group. "In addition, by mixing national and international top athletes, we want to show that Vollmer also successfully links local and global commitment, because we sell our grinding and eroding machines manufactured in Biberach worldwide."
