On 1st April 2022, Darcio Padilha from Brazil celebrated his 20th anniversary at the Biberach sharpening specialist, VOLLMER. This anniversary would not be particularly special news in itself – after all, many VOLLMER employees achieve 40 years of service or more. However, at 76 years old, Darcio Padilha is VOLLMER's oldest full-time employee. But, while most people his age have long been enjoying their well-earned retirement, Darcio Padilha plans on celebrating his 80th birthday still as an active employee of VOLLMER.

A double premiere in Stuttgart: The first ever GrindingHub international trade fair for grinding technology will take place on 17th May 2022, and for the first time sharpening specialist VOLLMER will present its 5S campaign: Sharp, Smart, Sustainable, Social, Strong. On Stand 7C50 in Hall 7, visitors can inspect the sharpening machines, services and digital solutions offered by the Biberach machine manufacturer.VOLLMER will be showcasing new tool grinding machines from its VGrind range as well as new products for machining carbide-tipped circular saws at the trade fair. Other highlights at the trade fair will include the VLaser 370 laser machine, the VHybrid 260 grinding and eroding machine and the digital V@dison solutions.

The Swabian sharpening specialists VOLLMER have opened the doors to their digital showroom. The web-based VOLLMER 360-degree tour, available via www.vollmer-experience.com, guides visitors around the grinding machines, eroding machines and services that can be found in the real Technology and Training Centre (TTC) located in Biberach, Germany. Visitors to the virtual 360-degree panorama can explore and find out about sharpening machines for rotary tools, circular saws and band saws at the click of a mouse, and can even use the "Guided Tour" button to book their very own VOLLMER 360-degree tour tailored to their specific interests.

Katthöfer Cutting Tools is an expert in the repair of circular metal cutting saws. The company has recently expanded its services for carbide-tipped thin cutting circular saws used for high-speed cutting (HSC). To process a variety of individual saw teeth quickly and precisely, Katthöfer uses sharpening technology from Loroch, a subsidiary of the VOLLMER Group. Twelve Loroch machines are currently in use at Katthöfer, including the three-year-old fully automated KSC 710-T Service Center, another of which has just been ordered.

Established more than 60 years ago, Phillips Tool Co was initially founded by Ted Phillips back in 1959 as a tool and die manufacturing business serving local customers in the Frankfort, IN area. In 1962, the company started sharpening saw blades and welding bandsaw blades, and after more than 20 years of saw blade servicing playing a greater role in the business, the next generation of the family changed the company name to Phillips Saw and Tool (PSAWS). Soon afterwards, the company invested in grinding technology from VOLLMER of America and the company hasn’t looked back since.

"The Saw Centre" trade shop and distribution centre is based in the Scottish city of Glasgow. While its roots go back to 1889, the company has now grown to 30 employees. "The Saw Centre" has been using Swabian sharpening technology made by VOLLMER for 20 years. In April 2021, the company put its new VOLLMER CHD 270 sharpening machine with an ND 250 loading system into operation. This enables operators to machine carbide-tipped circular saw blades with complex tooth geometries in a single set-up and run it around the clock without manual intervention.
