The workshops offer a creative route into the world of STEM subjects. The jury selected two winners in the “Youth” category: Rudolf Erdmann Mey and Benno Hölz. Both impressed the jury with their wealth of ideas and their approachability. Rudolf Erdmann Mey brought his self-built, self-driving vehicle to the work- shop. Benno Hölz has already taken part seven times in the “Jugend forscht” regional compe- tition for young research enthu- siasts, and has won the prize for his state once too. Both young winners, and the teams behind the initiatives, received their awards at the VOLLMER V Day, an evening event where CEO Dr Stefan Brand gave a speech recognising all their hard work and Sieglinde Vollmer personally congratulated them too. Together with their family, friends and the mentors who nominated them as prize winners, they celebrated a special day which left every- one with the feeling that the future of STEM subjects is in safe hands with young people like this. 15 SUBMISSIONS IN 2 CATEGORIES AT THE AWARD CEREMONY PRIZE MONEY € 4000 FOR INITIATIVES € 2500 FOR YOUTH ENTRIES € 500 FOR THE WINNERS' SCHOOLS 5
