INTERACTIVE KNOWLEDGE It's not just the opportunities for how we acquire knowledge that are chang- ing, but also the ways that we use and work with knowledge. On the Megatrend Map, this is repre- sented by the interactions with the “Connectivity” and “New Work” meg- atrends. In reality, this can be seen in crowd- sourcing, for example, an interactive form of acquiring goods and services. Users are asked to voluntarily share their opinions and knowledge on particular topics or for particular projects. The incentives include prizes, increased recognition or added value in the form of improved customer service. The collaboration node is not about many people expressing their opinions but rather meaningful exchanges by time-limited teams. Digital communica- tion also plays a key role here, helping people work together intensively, crea- tively and, above all, seamlessly across all borders. This is true whether for a particular project or to solve a current problem. Those who know this and are aware of other sub- and megatrends are familiar with how they grow and determine the direction of change, and can, like Horx, make realistic predictions for the future. Or they can at least be inspired to adopt new ways of thinking and new ideas. An increasing amount of the learning is done independently, when you're motivated or in the mood – opening hours and course deadlines are not a factor on the Internet. With those interests at heart, the business of education is changing its classic edu cational offering and becoming more entertaining. Playful learning formats, dubbed edutainment, continue to grow. Often this opens up new potential directions for people's life paths. We no longer need to stick to the one career we trained in. Increasingly, our biogra- phies are becoming “multi-graphies”, and it's not being viewed as a “direc- tionless” move any more. Quite the opposite, life-long learning helps to stop people from becoming bored, promotes personal discovery and therefore also personal happiness. frequently engaging together in inter- disciplinary work and cooperating on a larger scale with businesses, as well as offering online courses and lectures as videos. Even non-students have access to these and can further educate them- selves at their own pace and in line with their own interests. They can even contribute to research. Many schools are rethinking things too. It's along the lines of the “Flipped Classroom” concept, in which lessons and homework are flipped around to a certain extent. The taught portion, or lecture, is available as a video for at home. This has the advantage that it can be paused and repeated if neces- sary. Then the practical portion of the learning can take place in school, where the teacher is on hand to help with questions.
